Agri-Ash

Fertspread are exclusive providers of Agri-ash. It is produced at the ICON Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre in the ACT and is a complex and variable combination of materials resulting from the combustion of organic material and added chemicals. Many of these elements emanate from within the sewage collection system, others are added as part of the sewage treatment process.

Agri-Ash has a neutralizing value of 70% and total phosphorus measures approximately 6.8%. Citrate soluble phosphorus measures 3.1% on average over a 12 month period. This is the amount of phosphorus that is available immediately. The remainder has been shown to become available over a period of 5 years. It also contains many trace elements such as Molybdenum, Selenium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese and Boron.

Agri-ash is useful as a liming agent and a nutrient provider, particularly of phosphorus (P), sulphur (S) and various micro-nutrients. The calcium (Ca) in Agri-Ash is used in plant reproduction and nitrogen fixation in legumes. It promotes both plant growth and mechanical strength, and it has a role in a plant’s regulatory system. Agri-ash allows you to apply a capital application of phosphorus at a low price while still achieving your liming requirements.

Agri-Ash is incinerated at temperatures above 650C and is considered sterile. It contains no carbon or nitrogenous fertiliser value. The major constituents are calcium carbonate (limestone) and calcium phosphate.

Agri-ash is a light brown, sterile, dusty product, it has similar handling characteristics to superfine lime. The product is best handled by professional contractors because of the difficulties in spreading the product. It is delivered in bulk only (approx. 31 tonne loads) and is generally spread at a rate of between 2.5-5t/ha.

Many local farmers have been exceptionally pleased with results from Agri-ash and have become repeat users.
